FROM OUR PRESIDENT, SUE HUTCHISON
Summer weather is really going strong, and as I write this article, it is expected to
be 112 degrees today. It is hard to keep the kids entertained all day during this
extreme heat, so we have added a few extra weekly activities to the DRPG
calendar in July and August. Join us for indoor and water play, bowling, library
events, museums and puppet shows. I have tried to include activities which are
appropriate for elementary school-aged children as well as toddlers and
preschoolers so bring the whole family!
May and June were busy months for DRPG. We would like to thank volunteers
Ted Schlossmacher and David Hutchison for organizing a great Mother.s Day
Craft. The kids made some very modern painted wine bottle trays and
handmade cards. Then in June, Stephanie Schlossmacher and Brenda Nealy hosted the Father.s Day
Craft where ceramic mugs became masterpieces and .My Special Daddy. questionnaires brought many
laughs. A big "thank you" to all of the event coordinators for saving us from the cliche gifts of prior years!
DRPG has some great volunteers, but we need a few more. Molly Glenn could use a co-chair for the
Fall Festival in mid-October, and JoAnn Polk would love help with our early December Winter
Celebration. These are small events requiring a minimal time commitment up front, and it.s a lot of fun
to help out with the planning, attend the successful event and get to know some other members while
you.re there! Please let me know if you are willing to help by sending me a note at
President@DRPGonline.com.
Speaking of volunteers, many thanks to Marnie Merrill for tabulating the results of the DRPG Best Of
Home Improvement. You will find the survey results at the end of this newsletter. We hope you keep
it by the phone and find it more useful than the yellow pages!
We would like to welcome Stephanie Garcia to the DRPG board of directors. Stephanie has volunteered
to serve as Newsletter Editor and we are so pleased to have her smiling face and new ideas! If you
have suggestions for the newsletter, or would like to submit a newsletter article or purchase advertising,
you can reach Stephanie at Newsletter@DRPGonline.com
